Tell-No-Tales Thursdays: Fire FX and "E"

Some may think it looks fake and cheesy, but I personally love the burning building effect in this section of POTC where a combo of fans, lights, and fabric create this firey glow.

In semi-recent celebrity spottings at Disneyland, Kevin Connolly, best known as “E” on Entourage, stayed at the Grand Californian and had his own “entourage” as he got a personally guided tour by one of the lovely Disneyland Tour Guides.

In case you haven’t seen HBO’s “Entourage,” you should check it out. Very entertaining, especially for those who like to see some of the inner-workings of the Hollywood machine.

See more Disneyland Pirates of the Caribbean photos at my website.

It seems to me that they used to use a clear, shiny plastic for the fire effect, and now use something that looks somewhat satiny. I think it actually worked a bit better with the clear stuff, but maybe my memory is faulty!

You are right. The material has changed. It used to be mylar material and the burning logs had aluminum foil with red lights shining on it.

I think the logs were changed out in the 80's.
