Evolution of a Boat

Another "old vs. new" post, comparing a 1950's Orinoco Adventuress Jungle Cruise boat vs. the 2008 version.

This also shows the difference in theming for this Adventureland attraction: African Queen vs. 1930's Indiana Jones Adventure. Which would you rather ride?

See more vintage & current Daveland Disneyland Jungle Cruise photos on my main website.

I have a strong nostalgia for the original striped canopies, but I actually prefer the worn and weathered look. The boats just fit better within the environment now. The pull back of the canopy exposing the support structure is also nice. In addition, the redesign came with a spectacular new boathouse and queue which makes the whole mid-90s remodel a winner. The Jungle Cruise has always been my personal favorite attraction, even above the more sophisticated at the Park. In my opinion, the attraction looks better than it ever has.

I like the old look. The new boats might be "themed" better, but the old boats look more fun (and thats what its all about!) Also, I think the camo on the new sign looks a bit cheesy...
