Classic Polyester: April 1977 Pt. 1

I figured it was about time to revisit the 70’s, as it’s a decade I rarely spend time on. This large batch is from April 1977 and chronicles the journey of a family of four through Disneyland on what appears to be a multi-day vacation. First shot is of dad posing in front of The Disneyland Hotel. He appears to be auditioning for a Van Heusen ad, perhaps.

We’ll begin in Fantasyland, with mom and the boys waving to dad as they enter small world. “Have fun taking photos...we’re going on the attractions!”

Although the Carrousel really isn’t quite the speed that the brothers prefer, they dutifully pose and wave for dad and take a few laps around on the horses.

The brothers seemed to like the Skull Rock/Chicken of the Sea area (who wouldn’t?) and happily posed for dad for a number of pictures.

Pointing out the next Fantasyland attraction that they want to ride:

Already bored with the photos, they boys are ready to ride the attractions:

Now if only this ship would sail away so that we could get away from camera-happy dad:

We end our time in Fantasyland outside of Storybook Land, posing in front of Monstro:

"appears to be auditioning for a Van Heusen ad" - SO true! Nice how his head covers "land" on the hotel sign!

These have a warm comfortable feel to them, kind of like that sleeveless jacket the kids is wearing... I had a blue one also (OP of course).

You said "large batch" I hope that means we get more of these? Thanks Dave!

Nice family photos, and 32 years later, nobody wanted them. Kinda sad!

I like Monstro painted in a nice shiny black rather than the dull faded blue that he is today.

These are great! Looking forward to more seventies photos!

Here we go again with the Monstro color controversy. I can attest to the fact the it was really Cobalt Blue, a color that appears to be black unless white is added. When the color started to fade after a full season of hot sun, it started to take on a slight blue cast.
